Our AYPO season runs for 8 weeks now and not 6. It is designed to give players structure, challenge, and fun — all while playing alongside friends from their school!
Here's how it works:
Grades 6th - 12th
Club Teams
Players are grouped into “clubs” based on the school they attend (if homeschooled you will be paired at the designated school based on your home address). Each club is divided into Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced divisions, depending on skill — not age — so kids are matched up fairly and can improve at their own pace.
Weekly Meets (Weeks 1–6)
For the first 6 weeks, clubs will compete in weekly meets.
Each club will play against other clubs in team-based matchups that include boys doubles, girls doubles, and 2 mixed doubles matches.
Games including the Dreambreaker are played rally scoring to 15, win by 2. In the event of a 2-2 tie, a singles Dreambreaker will be played to determine the winner. However, even if there is no tie, a Dreambreaker will still be played at the end of each meet to give players experience with that format. Players rotate partners after every 4 points.
Practices will be held at least one day a week.
Each player will be scheduled for a 1-hour time slot, during which their team will play a match against another team within the same division. Players only need to attend during their assigned time slot — no waiting around for hours. This keeps things efficient, family-friendly, and skill focused.
Tournament (Weeks 7 & 8)
The final 2 weeks of the season, teams will participate in tournament play. Seeding for the tournament will be based on each team’s record from the season, ensuring fair matchups and rewarding consistent effort and performance. These are fun, competitive events that celebrate everything the players have worked on.
Players will be placed in tournament brackets based on division.
Tournament is team-based not individual formats.
Prizes, medals, and a celebration to close out the season!
Coaches & Safety
All coaches will be background-checked and fingerprinted. We prioritize sportsmanship, mentorship, and positive growth in every division.
Simple, All-Inclusive Fee
One registration fee per player for the entire 8-week season. No hidden costs, no surprise add-ons.
Whether your child is brand new to pickleball or already playing competitively, there’s a place for them in AYPO.
Our Goal: Include Every Player, With Equal and Fair Play in Mind.
At AYPO, we never want to turn away a child who wants to play. Our mission is to make pickleball accessible and inclusive for all skill levels. However, to maintain fair and functional team matchups, we build teams in groups of 4 players per team within each division.
This means we need registration numbers to align with multiples of 4 (e.g., 4, 8, 12, 16, etc.) in each division to ensure everyone has teammates and opponents each week.
Example:
If we need 26 players for a full schedule but only 25 sign up, we’ll do everything we can to fill that spot—whether through:
Recruiting one more player
Offering waitlist options
Combining clubs or rebalancing teams
Finding a flexible solution that still allows everyone to play
We’ll always communicate clearly with families if registration numbers impact final team placement, and we’ll explore every possible solution to avoid turning anyone away.
Tracking Progress with DUPR + Swish
This season, AYPO will be using DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) and the Swish App to bring structure, transparency, and fun to the league!
DUPR
DUPR is a global pickleball rating system that helps track player skill over time.
Players will earn a DUPR rating by participating in official matches.
It allows us to match players more fairly and monitor improvement.
Parents and players can view stats and progress as the season goes on.
Why Building a DUPR Rating Matters
At AYPO, we believe in more than just showing up to play — we want our athletes to grow, compete with purpose, and take pride in their progress. That’s why we’re excited to incorporate DUPR into our season.
DUPR is more than just a number — it’s a trusted system used across the country (and the world) to track a player’s skill level based on actual match results. By using DUPR, our players can:
✅ See how their game improves over time
✅ Get matched more fairly and competitively
✅ Gain confidence through measurable growth
✅ Build a verified rating that follows them into high school, tournaments, and beyond
Even our youngest players deserve the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work — and building a DUPR early opens the door to bigger opportunities in the future.
This is why every official AYPO match will be entered into DUPR, and why we encourage all players to create a free DUPR account. We're building something bigger than a season — we're building future athletes.
Swish App
Swish is our all-in-one tool for managing club matchups, reporting scores, and keeping the season organized.
Club advisors and coaches will use it to schedule matches, input results, and communicate updates.
Players and parents can check standings, upcoming matches, and more — right from their phone.
Both tools help us make the AYPO experience smoother, smarter, and more competitive — while keeping things fun and easy to follow.
