AYPO 2026 season Format

AYPO is open to students entering 6th through 12th grade in the fall. Our season runs for 8 weeks, giving players a structured, competitive, and fun way to improve their skills while playing alongside friends and representing their school.

School-Based Teams

Players are placed in clubs based on the school they attend. Homeschooled students are assigned according to their home address. Within each club, players are grouped by skill level—not age—to create fair and competitive matchups.

Weekly Practices and League Play

Teams practice at least once each week with their coach. League meets are held every Thursday, and each player is assigned an approximately one-hour playing time so families do not have to wait at the courts all evening.

The season includes:

  • 6 weeks of regular league play

  • 2 weeks of team tournament play

  • Each week there will be a boys doubles, girls doubles, 2 mixed doubles matches, and a Dreambreaker.

  • Doubles matches are rally scoring to 15, win by 1, score freezes at 14, and the winning point must be earned while serving

  • Dreambreaker singles play is rally scoring to 21, win by 1, score freezes at 20, and the winning point must be earned while serving. All players rotate every four points.

End-of-Season Tournament

The final two weeks are dedicated to tournament play. Teams are seeded according to their regular-season record and compete within their skill division. The season ends with medals, prizes, and a celebration of everything the players have accomplished.

Player Progress and Standings

AYPO uses DUPR and the Swish app to organize matches and help families follow the season.

  • Official match results are entered into DUPR so players can build a verified rating and track their progress.

  • Swish allows players and parents to view schedules, scores, standings, and upcoming matchups.

Fair and Inclusive Team Placement

Our goal is to give every registered player an opportunity to participate. Because the league format is built around teams of four, final placement depends on registration numbers within each club and division. If numbers do not divide evenly, AYPO may combine clubs, rebalance teams, recruit additional players, or offer a waitlist. Families will always be notified if registration numbers affect placement.

AYPO coaches are background-checked and fingerprinted. We emphasize positive mentorship, sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, and player development throughout every division.
